Fashion Addict: Part 2- Eliminating Temptation

Almost two weeks down of no clothing or shoes shopping! It is crazy how many temptations I have on the daily to buy or look at things. Whether its getting an email or seeing an ad on my Facebook, I have stopped myself so many times from going to a website to online shop.
Last Saturday, I worked a few hours and also saw several cute things that I just knew I NEEDED (haha), but I did not cave. I left the store with no purchases.
Even though working in retail can be tough, I think the biggest thing to help with buying temptations this week was unsubscribing from a lot of marketing emails from companies. Once I stopped seeing 5 emails a day about the “biggest sale of the year,” I was able to get some of my shopping temptations to lessen.
I bet if you took inventory of your emails, you would find a few stores to unsubscribe to as well to reduce your inclination to shop!
I also used this week to wear a couple new items that still had tags on them. I felt like I just went shopping!
After a successful two weeks, I think I can continue throughout the rest of May without making any unnecessary purchases. Are any of you making a change in your shopping habits?! Let me know!

#WIW to a Sunday Wedding

Hi friends,

Wedding season is in full effect! I went to see my friends, Kelly and Steve, tie the knot this past Sunday, and it was so beautiful. (They are the brunette Barbie and Ken in my opinion!)

They had an awesome brunch style reception with a mimosa bar and crepe station, and I may or may not have made the biggest crepe possible. I’m talking cannoli creme, nutella, and strawberries in that bad boy! HAHA!

Another awesome thing I noticed at the wedding how was popular color was among the ladies. Several of us were wearing an orange or coral like my dress shown, as well as bright green and royal blue.

Weddings are a great time to dress up and try on something fun and girly. My dress is last season Jessica Simpson, but I really think the lace and the midriff cut outs are continuing to be popular this spring and summer seasons.

Chic Stripes and Suede Boots

Hi friends!

I can’t believe it is already February! This is probably the coldest month that we experience in South Carolina so I am trying to get in all my sweaters, fur, and boots while I can. Today’s look is one of my favorite pieces that I haven’t worn out yet (aka you’ll probably see me out and about with this soon!)

This poncho is from THIS website. My mom got me this as a Christmas present, and it is so pretty I’m disappointed in myself for not wearing it sooner!

I have worn these black jeans over and over again this winter because they are super comfortable and the rips give them an extra edge. These jeans are from Articles of Society.

My new favorite knee high boots are from GUESS and they are so chic! They are suede and have some nice details on the side including a faux buckle. These are definitely boots that I can pair with a nicer dress or make casual with jeans or leggings.

I’m loving this outfit because I can take it from lunch with the girls all the way to happy hour or an early evening out with friends. It also fits the bill for stylish and warm which as you remember from this article is important to me!

Hope you all have an awesome week! For more fashion fun and updates, follow me on Instagram @palmettocouture!!

Hi friends!

For me, this is a pretty edgy outfit. Honestly, I felt like a badass, HAHA!

Super simple but I love pairing cool jeans and a slouchy sweater together. Add a fun headband and you are set! Remember from this post, I said headbands were trending?! Well this one is proof!

Winter is winding down here in South Carolina but I am getting in all the sweaters and headgear I can! This headband was from Walmart (so cute for so little), sweater from Tobi, and pants from Articles of Society.

Bling in the New Year!

Hi friends,

I can’t believe the end of 2015 is here! November through mid-January are always so busy for me because not only do I celebrate Thanksgiving, Christmas, and the New Year, I have my best friend and I’s birthday right after!

That’s a lot of celebrating. And a lot of outfits to style! Fortunately, I love pulling together festive outfits for this time of year. The holidays really allow you to bring out some fancy pieces you might not typically wear on any given day.

That’s one of the reasons I love dressing up for New Year’s Eve- the bling! If you have no clue what to wear this year, or just need a few fun ideas, check out the sassy AND affordable options I’ve posted below. SO many stores are in clearance right now, so it won’t cost you a lot to look fabulous!

  1. The Statement Skirt: Find a bold skirt that stands out and keep the rest of your outfit simple. Easy and chic.

  2. Faux Fur: If you really want to sass up your outfit, add a touch of faux fur. Whether its a coat, a vest, or an easy shawl, fur immediately adds a luxurious feel to your outfit.

  3. Sequins: Don’t think sequins of the ’90s prom dress variety. Think a cool blazer, leggings, or a sleek, form fitting dress if you have a dressier evening planned.

While you can go as dressy or casual as you like this New Year’s Eve, I hope these ideas give you some style inspiration. I plan to ring the New Year in with friends and prepare myself for my best year yet- professionally, personally, spiritually, and of course, fashionably!
