White Pants: Before & After Labor Day

DSC_0054-2DSC_0029-2DSC_0043-2DSC_0033-2

Hi Friends,

The end of summer is no where in sight for us southerners but the stigma of no white after Labor Day is fast approaching. In the past, the idea of white shoes or pants after the holiday was a serious fashion no-no. Today, however, I think we are realizing how great white pants can be in all four seasons.

While white shoes are hard to pull off in general unless you have a quality pair of leather heels or designer flats, white pants can be worn a multitude of ways.

In today’s post, my outfit is pretty simple. White jeans paired with a flowy denim top from Banana Republic and bright, floral, Guess pumps. I have worn these pants and these heels so many times this summer. Good basics like the denim top and white pants can always be dressed up with a fun pair of heels.

For the fall or winter, I would pair white pants with other neutrals like an oversized beige sweater and booties. You can mix it up however you like, but I think the takeaway here is that white is not banned after the beginning of September.

Do you wear white after Labor Day? Tell me your thoughts!

Hi friends,

I am heading to NYC this morning where the spring weather is no where to be found! It is predicted to be quite chilly so I packed several sweaters and hats to stay warm. Follow me on Instagram @palmettocouture to see all my NYC posts!

Today’s blog is similar to the last because I love the idea of throwing on a cute tee and jeans and then adding heels and jewelry to dress it up a notch.

This top is from Belk and comes in a few colors. My jeans are from Express (I wear them ALL the time), and my heels are by Sam Edelman.

I have SO many pairs of shoes from Sam Edelman, my closet is full of green shoe boxes, haha! They are great quality shoes and that always keeps me a happy customer. The price point is usually $70 and up but they are worth the money in my opinion.

What are your go-to brands for shoes? I also love Jessica Simpson, Vince Camuto, and BCBG!

3 Must-Haves for Spring!

Hi friends,

March is here, and I am so ready for warm weather! I absolutely love getting outside and being active this time of year. Another thing I love, is switching out my closet to prepare for the warmer months. Southerners know how hot it can get during the summer time, so I am going to milk these few spring months for as long as they last!

In the midst of transitioning to warm weather clothing, here are 3 of my must-haves for this Spring season:

1. Statement Flats– I am currently OBSESSED with lace up and studded flats! They started with top fashion designers like Valentino and have worked their way into more affordable options. Thank goodness!

These are perfect with skinny jeans, shorts, dresses, you name it! I’ve linked some of my favorites below.

2. Neon Everything– While in the winter months I am heavily clad in a black and gray scale, Spring gives me a chance to break out of the classics and have a little fun. A pop of neon is a way to brighten your look without resembling a highlighter.

One of my favorite ways to incorporate neon is with a cute clutch or handbag. Its an easy way to sass things up!

3. Bright Lips– If you know me well, you know my obsession with lipstick. I have over 40 lipsticks and am always looking for more! This spring, I see bright lips in the forecast including hot pinks, bold corals, and fuchsias.

I’ve always said a lipstick can change your mood and your look instantly. Check out the fun colors linked below.

A Holiday Look: Part 2

Happy Monday, friends!

Today’s post is part two of my holiday look series and focuses on the most simple look that still makes a statement!

Who doesn’t love a Little Black Dress (LBD) for any occasion?! When all else fails, having this staple in your closet will be a lifesaver. I always recommend having one for a cooler season and one for a warmer season.

There are so many ways you can dress up a LBD, but I chose to keep it simple and just added bling! When wearing a monochromatic look (all one color), its nice to add a few pieces of bold jewelry to make the look your own.

I found a few gold pieces from Charlotte Russe that were under $15 for the bracelet, earrings, and rings. They usually run a jewelry sale that is great for costume jewelry pieces. And my LBD is a midi length sweater dress that I bought from Old Navy for under $40!

To make a LBD match your style, think of special accessories that you love and how you can incorporate it into your party look.

Here are a few tricks to add personal style to your LBD for any holiday party:

  1. Add a pop of color: maybe a red clutch, bold lipstick, or nails!
  2. Printed tights: there are so many fun, patterned tights in stores that will definitely make a statement!
  3. Bling, bling: a few pieces of bold jewelry can brighten up a solid color look and add some class as well.

Good luck and have fun! Remember to tag me in your holiday outfit posts on Instagram @palmettocouture!

Its officially the Holly-day season!! See what I did there?!

But seriously, with lots of events and parties to attend along with the gift shopping, wallets can get tight really fast! We all want to look our best without going over our budget.

In thinking about holiday looks for the fashion conscious girl, I wanted to create two looks that were stylish and chic and wouldn’t break the bank!

This two part series starts with a look that I created from items I already had in my closet!

My advice for an easy, festive outfit is as follows:

  1. Pattern: find an article of clothing that has a wintry or holiday pattern as your centerpiece. I went with a subtle houndstooth skirt with a faux leather trim to start.
  2. Color: add a pop of red or green (and don’t worry about the traditional shades- branch out like my burgundy top!)
  3. Bling: fun jewelry and accessories can make or break an outfit! Add a few pieces that really stand out!
  4. Heels: and last but certainly not least, slip on a pair of sassy heels and your confidence will make you the star of the party! Not into heels? Try a sparkly or patent leather flat to jazz up your style.

Most of these items are things that you probably already have in your closet! Take a look around and see what you can create. I bet you will surprise yourself and style the perfect Holly-day outfit!
