Last week I was in Chicago for several days and it was such a cool city!
If you know me well, you know I LOVE NYC, but Chicago was actually a cleaner and friendlier version of that. While not as touristy as New York, Chicago had a big city vibe with a Mid Western attitude in my opinion.
The fall weather was wonderful and I quickly learned that Chicago truly is “The Windy City.”
While I do wish I would’ve worn more walking appropriate shoes, I loved being able to break out my blanket scarves like in the pictures above. I got that scarf from Belk and OMG it is so soft and cozy! You can find it here.
If you live in the south like me, you haven’t had many chances to wear one so far but go ahead and stock up because the chilly months are coming and they sell out quickly.
You can find some of my favorites here and here!
Oh, and photo credits go to my handsome guy, Chris! He is learning my camera for me so I can put out regular content for you all.
That’s it for today but be sure to subscribe to my blog for updates to your email and follow me on Instagram @palmettocouture!
The end of summer is no where in sight for us southerners but the stigma of no white after Labor Day is fast approaching. In the past, the idea of white shoes or pants after the holiday was a serious fashion no-no. Today, however, I think we are realizing how great white pants can be in all four seasons.
While white shoes are hard to pull off in general unless you have a quality pair of leather heels or designer flats, white pants can be worn a multitude of ways.
In today’s post, my outfit is pretty simple. White jeans paired with a flowy denim top from Banana Republic and bright, floral, Guess pumps. I have worn these pants and these heels so many times this summer. Good basics like the denim top and white pants can always be dressed up with a fun pair of heels.
For the fall or winter, I would pair white pants with other neutrals like an oversized beige sweater and booties. You can mix it up however you like, but I think the takeaway here is that white is not banned after the beginning of September.
Do you wear white after Labor Day? Tell me your thoughts!
Ya’ll. It is officially summer and the heat is rockin’ and rollin’ in Myrtle Beach! When the warm weather hits, all I want is a fun, comfy sundress, sandals, and maybe a cold, adult beverage in my hand.
The dress in today’s post is seriously one of the most comfortable dresses I have purchased this year, and I even got it in orange. You might have seen that one on my Instagram (follow me @palmettocouture.)
This dress is super affordable at Belk and is made by a brand called New Directions. They often have cute items that are less expensive. My hat is from Walmart and shoes are Steve Madden!
Just pair this dress or a flowy, cotton dress of your choice with cute sandals and a straw hat and you will be set for these warm, summer days ahead.
Another great part of summer is spending time on the beach and on a boat! I am hoping to spend some time by the water this weekend with friends. What are your Forth of July plans this weekend?!
Today I am talking about something a little different. If you know me well, you know that I am a bargain shopper and try to get everything I buy for as little as possible. You also know I have a little side gig working as an on-call associate for Belk whenever they need me on the weekends.
Those two things combined with my love for clothes and shoes can be dangerous. I can find sooo many cute things at amazing prices when I work at Belk that I find myself walking out the door owing Belk more than I made that day!
I am usually very good with my money and budget things out. Recently, however, I realized I could be saving so much more if I actually wore all the clothes in my closet instead of buying something new several times a month. (Yikes!)
Because of those things, I want to force myself to wear only the things in my closet for the rest of the month and make no new fashion purchases unless it is something absolutely necessary. Honestly, this shouldn’t be anything. I have so many options I can’t think of anything that would be dire enough for me to break this pact with myself.
Each week through the month of May I will update you all on my personal challenge so I can hold myself accountable. Do any of you get caught up in the thrill of the sale and purchase unnecessary items?
