Where are you from?
I was born and raised in South Carolina! I currently live in the Myrtle Beach area!
Why did you start this blog?
I love fashion and styling new and old pieces together and have had a lot of compliments on my style in the past. That said, I wanted to put together a site where I could showcase my ideas and share them with others!
Where are your favorite places to shop?
I really love Banana Republic for my work clothes. I also find a lot of shoes and accessories at Belk, and I like to explore smaller boutiques for more unique pieces! When I am looking for a bargain, I usually check out Old Navy!
Do you have a fashion background?
Other than grabbing the big catalogs at Christmas as a kid and circling all the clothes I wanted, the answer is no. I have always loved clothes and shoes and especially finding a great deal on fun pieces. I have a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Clemson University and a Communication degree from Coastal Carolina University.
What are your go-to makeup pieces?
I have been wearing Estee Lauder’s Double Wear foundation for years because it gives me build-able coverage and lasts all day even with my oily skin! Two other items I don’t budge on are Lancome’s Cils Booster and Lancome’s Hypnose Drama Mascara. The primer and mascara are my favorites, and I’ve tried a lot of different ones over the years…
What does Palmetto Couture mean?
Great question! A palmetto is the state tree for South Carolina, aka, The Palmetto State. Palmettos were used as a defense barrier for troops during the American Revolutionary War on Sullivan’s Island (Charleston,SC). Without the palmetto trees’ help, the South Carolina troops might not have defeated the British cannons! The palmetto tree signifies liberty and strength for South Carolina and is a very important symbol for South Carolinians.
So because my blog is about fashion that is tailored to my likes and style, I found it appropriate to tie in my heritage with my love of fashion. From there, Palmetto Couture was born!
