Happy Monday, friends!
Today’s post is part two of my holiday look series and focuses on the most simple look that still makes a statement!
Who doesn’t love a Little Black Dress (LBD) for any occasion?! When all else fails, having this staple in your closet will be a lifesaver. I always recommend having one for a cooler season and one for a warmer season.
There are so many ways you can dress up a LBD, but I chose to keep it simple and just added bling! When wearing a monochromatic look (all one color), its nice to add a few pieces of bold jewelry to make the look your own.
I found a few gold pieces from Charlotte Russe that were under $15 for the bracelet, earrings, and rings. They usually run a jewelry sale that is great for costume jewelry pieces. And my LBD is a midi length sweater dress that I bought from Old Navy for under $40!
To make a LBD match your style, think of special accessories that you love and how you can incorporate it into your party look.
Here are a few tricks to add personal style to your LBD for any holiday party:
- Add a pop of color: maybe a red clutch, bold lipstick, or nails!
- Printed tights: there are so many fun, patterned tights in stores that will definitely make a statement!
- Bling, bling: a few pieces of bold jewelry can brighten up a solid color look and add some class as well.
Good luck and have fun! Remember to tag me in your holiday outfit posts on Instagram @palmettocouture!
Its officially the Holly-day season!! See what I did there?!
But seriously, with lots of events and parties to attend along with the gift shopping, wallets can get tight really fast! We all want to look our best without going over our budget.
In thinking about holiday looks for the fashion conscious girl, I wanted to create two looks that were stylish and chic and wouldn’t break the bank!
This two part series starts with a look that I created from items I already had in my closet!
My advice for an easy, festive outfit is as follows:
- Pattern: find an article of clothing that has a wintry or holiday pattern as your centerpiece. I went with a subtle houndstooth skirt with a faux leather trim to start.
- Color: add a pop of red or green (and don’t worry about the traditional shades- branch out like my burgundy top!)
- Bling: fun jewelry and accessories can make or break an outfit! Add a few pieces that really stand out!
- Heels: and last but certainly not least, slip on a pair of sassy heels and your confidence will make you the star of the party! Not into heels? Try a sparkly or patent leather flat to jazz up your style.
Most of these items are things that you probably already have in your closet! Take a look around and see what you can create. I bet you will surprise yourself and style the perfect Holly-day outfit!

As the temperature gets cooler, we often find ourselves choosing warmth over style. I am guilty of this myself, but when I find a stylish piece of fall and winter gear that also keeps me warm, I don’t hesitate in making a purchase!
This faux fur and chunky knit wrap is going to be put on repeat the next few months! It is so warm and cozy, and I bet you won’t believe I bought it at Target! It is great quality for the price tag of about $40!
Wraps and ponchos are pieces that are easily incorporated into your closet because you can pair them with basics that you already own. Putting a fun printed wrap over a turtleneck or long sleeve shirt gives a nice layered look that will seem like you put much more effort into planning your outfit than you really did! You can always belt your wrap to accentuate your waist and have a more polished look too!
Here are a few other wraps and ponchos that I love: French Connection / Chip & Pepper / Merona

And special thanks to my beautiful mother who took these pics! We are learning how to use my new dslr camera, so bear with us as we embark on this journey together.
Although fall ends in a little over a month, there are 3 must-have pieces to complete your casual fall wardrobe: Fringe, Plaid, and a sweet, floppy hat.
Fall is one of my favorite times of the year and its because of the awesome fashion choices I get to make! Who doesn’t love an over-sized, plaid shirt for starters?! There are so many beautiful plaids in stores right now, it is difficult to choose just one (which is why I bought multiple!)
Fringe has also made a huge comeback this season, and I predict it will stick around through the winter months as well. As you can see, the booties I’m wearing in this post have really been a chic yet trendy way to get my fringe fix. I got these from Belk, and I believe they are on super clearance right now!
Afraid to try the fringe trend? There are many ways you can incorporate it into your closet. Find a sassy purse or crossbody bag, or try a poncho (also trending!) that has a subtle fringe on the bottom!
Now after you’ve picked up your (multiple) plaid tops, and a fringe item, head to your favorite store and PLEASE try on a floppy hat. But Holly, you say, I don’t wear hats! Well, I say try one on anyway, and you will immediately feel fabulous! The moment I put a stylish hat on, I feel like I should have my own tv show. Yes, I feel that fabulous.
And its that easy. Three fall must-haves and you will be on your way to completing your fall wardrobe!…and having your own tv show.*
***Disclaimer: Having these three fall must-haves will not guarantee you your own tv show, however, you may exude the confidence needed to do so.***
One of the most popular, and coziest, trends of this fall and winter seasons, is the Blanket Scarf! They are soft, warm, and really add a special touch to casual and dressier outfits alike.
You will come to know that I adore scarves. I have over 30 hanging in my closet as we “speak!” Some are solid colors, some patterned, some infinity style, and of course, your standard, tried and true, pashminas.
The blanket scarf, however, is the figurative “new girl in town” in my closet, and I have welcomed her with open arms! I would say neck, but that would just be odd…
While this post focuses on a casual styling of the blanket scarf, I plan to add this to dresses as well. Imagine a midi length sweater dress, sassy booties, and a blanket scarf?! I’m already planning that outfit as I type this!
Its easy to see that the blanket scarf can be dressed up or down depending your preference. I can’t wait for cooler weather so I can add this to my outfits more often. If you are looking for this scarf in particular, you can find a similar one here, but they are literally EVERYWHERE right now! This is a perfect trendy accessory because there are many affordable options.
Find one that suits your personality and just go for it! Get your trend on!
